It's been a long week

Ahhh, yes. A very, very long week. Our nanny is not working out & I have to urgently stop using her & find someone else. I worked from home today, but next week is going to be super dicey & the boys have no school on Friday. Plus, I leave for London in 10 days. So, yeah. The trauma of finding a new nanny. Don't want to get into the specifics here, but it was critical that we stop using her right away. :-(

M has been out of town for 10 days, but is back tomorrow. I will be so grateful to have him back. We haven't even been able to chat at all other than a very brief 5 minute call. You forget how much you enjoy having someone in your life until they are gone! That's a good thing that after 10 years, I still miss him when he's away. :-)

And, work. Lots and lots and lots of work on a huge project, squeezed in between everything else in my  life.

But, being stressed about everything never helped anyone, so hear are five good things about the week:

  1. I handed off my enormous project. Last night, at 10 pm!!
  2. My youngest son got selected to take part in a competitive goalie program, which he's thrilled about.
  3. Both boys love reading & have really started to read advanced books for their ages. I'm a total bookworm, so this makes me very happy.
  4. We went 10 days without any grocery shopping!
  5. I ordered pizza for dinner & I'm having a glass of wine, ready for the weekend.
On to the weekend! We have two soccer games tomorrow, then a trip to the airport, plus Costco. Oh boy, Costco. ;-) Two more soccer games on Sunday, plus an interview with a new nanny. Cross your fingers!

  1. I'm sorry things didn't work out with the Nanny but good for you for putting a stop to it right away!

Congrats on all accomplished this week! How good did it feel handing in that project? :P

    1. Well, if it goes well, I will get promoted to director in October. So, we shall see? And either way, so happy this phase of it is over!!!!!

    2. Having reluable trusted child care was my biggest working mom worry. Good for you for not settling for less than great for your boys and you. I recently left a job of utter frantic chaos. I probably took a backwards step career wise, but no regrets. Congratulations on promition and a more settled work schedule.

  2. I stopped at Costco on Tuesday when I was in the city and I realized that it is VERY different shopping there when there is only 2 in the house now lol

Good luck finding someone quick who will work out.

    1. The boys eat a ton of fruits & vegetables, which I love, of course, but we're one of those rare families who can actually use the full Costco sized quantity of many things. ;-)

  3. What a pain the butt about your Nanny. I hope that you are able to find someone decent fast. You don't have time for this!!

  4. Hope you find a replacement for childcare soon. There has to be a real family "fit" or things just don't work for anyone. Fingers crossed!

    1. Oh, it was not a good "fit". She tried but wasn't capable of handling the job & made a lot of significant errors. :-( Fingers crossed on a quick replacement who is a great fit!
