Why you will not find politics on my blog

This election season has been really challenging for me. The divisiveness of the dialogue & overall influence of social media makes it feel like I'm constantly hearing about it.

I will not talk about it here, because I have my very clear perspective, and you have yours. Sharing my philosophy on my blog will not influence you. This is a place where I share my life, financial & otherwise. The trials & tribulations of working & parenting & budgeting. Oh, and getting in shape. Who could forget that? ;-)

As a woman with a large extended family in Iran (some of whom are Muslims, many of whom are Catholic), I will simply say that this is a deeply personal topic for me. It is not just a debate that we have on Facebook or when you throw up your blog posts & assume the people reading don't have their own opinions & perspectives, or come with their own beliefs. I have tried to keep that in mind when discussing controversial topics. My deeply personal topic & opinions are not yours, and I will respect that & not force feed you my diatribe on why your candidate is not my candidate.

I will continue to blog about all of my normal array of topics, and we can share recipes & support each other, because that's what I love about the outlet we have here.

So, with that, I'm off to take the kids to swimming lessons in the hot California sun! Hoping it cools off soon. And, Adele was mind blowing. Truly amazing. Absolutely a phenomenal show. So happy I went!!!

    1. It's been a real struggle over the past few weeks. May have to give up social media until after the election

  2. I agree. There are enough bloggers who have to put their political beliefs out there. Some of which are so hard to believe but everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if most of what they say is just untrue. Anyone actually watch shows like Trevor Noah?? Anyway, I'm not putting anything political on my blog either. thanks for writing this today.

    1. It's rough. I try not to bait people by responding because, really, I'm not going to change their mind & it's an exercise in futility & frustration. I also just want the election season to be kinder. Kinder. All of us. I'm working on practicing with that myself, although I find it VERY hard.

    1. I figure you can find political blogs or read Facebook, or god forbid, any other number of resources for political content. It's everywhere, right now. Just everywhere. Instead, enjoy the lack of political posts. :-)

I know Adele was fabulous and I am filled with show envy right now!

    1. You bet! A place of political reprieve. ;-)

Adele - SO amazing. Seriously, if the opportunity comes up, get tickets. You won't be disappointed.

  5. Thank you! I agree - everyone is entitled to do their own research prior to voting for any election, and for their own opinions. When someone posts such strong (& often crude/rude) comments like they are shoving them down readers throats, it's a total turn-off. So thank you! :-)

    1. I feel the same. And, you are absolutely welcome. You can go find those posts on Facebook (if your feed is anything like me), if you are missing out. ;-)
