In sort of miscellany format, here's what's happening at our house this week.
Nick:
It's been so much fun to have Nick home for spring break (& his birthday) this week! That said, he's been super busy catching up with friends. He's been to the beach twice (we are having crazy heat breaking warm weather), Napa, and UC Davis. He also went to the dentist, because Mom is fun like that, setting up appointments for him. He had a filling fall out, so needs to go back today. We all went out to dinner for his birthday, and it was just so much fun to have the time together.
Work:
Manager is back, but things are still chaotic. Went to the office yesterday & caught up with a bunch of folks (we have a one day a month "required" in office day). My meeting schedule for today is particularly light due to some cancellations, so I'm planning to tackle a lot of carryover work from the past few weeks when I was covering for my manager.
Finances:
I paid our federal taxes, and oooh, it hurt to pull that money out of savings. We've agreed on a different strategy moving forward. I had big goals for 2026 savings, so hopefully I can make up a bit of ground a bit later in the year by cutting costs elsewhere.
Fitness:
All is cruising along pretty well, although I've had a real mix of workouts this week & today I'm going t my challenging workout class. I hiked with a friend yesterday, and even at 5 pm, it was over 80 degrees. No thanks! It's only March.
That's what's top of mind for me. What about you? What random things are on your mind?
The weather across the country is insane. We had a blizzard last Saturday into Sunday and this weekend will reach 60. I loved when my college kids came home, even though a bit fly by night as they were so busy.
ReplyDeleteThe weather is seriously nuts! - HP
DeleteSounds like a good week!
ReplyDeleteGlad you have your boy home for spring break and to celebrate his birthday. Hopefully work will be a little calmer. Yay you on the workouts. Weather is crazy here too, but I'm glad we don't have those temps. Have a great weekend.
It's really wild - our first ever March heat wave. - HP
DeleteI want spring weather in Toronto so badly :') I am glad Nick's break is going so well. Do you think he misses home enough to transfer to school in state, or no? The taxes, ugh. Glad your fitness journey is going well!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, no. He absolutely loves Boulder & the friends he has met. He met friends bay area Boulder friends for lunch on his birthday, and meeting up with his Boulder roommate today for a beach trip. He's very happy where he's at. And yes, major groan on the taxes! - HP
DeleteAny news from M.'s family in Iran? I do feel for him and for you. Roderick
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, no. There is still pretty much a full communication blackout for local residents in Iran, or at least where they are in Tehran. - HP
DeleteThis is crazy weather and 80 is too hot for March!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! - HP
DeleteYes, weather has been very unseasonably warm down here as well - projected highs of 84 degrees at THE BEACH next week!?!
ReplyDeleteIt does make for lovely sitting-out at night however, so I'm working to embrace and appreciate that.
Fun to enjoy your visiting college child remotely via your blog. Brings back the best of memories of my daughters returning home for college for holidays and summer break. However, now I'm watching my older granddaughter approaching Jr High and I can't even!
Yes, the weather has been really nuts - can't believe it's getting to mid 80s at the beach! We had 88 yesterday, which is just crazy. I'm also enjoying sitting out by the pool in the evenings with M for a bit, which is so nice.
DeleteIt is soooo fun to have people back at home & lots of energy at the house, despite Nick rarely being home. ;) I cannot believe your older granddaughter is almost in junior high!!! - HP
We almost reached 20C today, which was lovely. It will be the same tomorrow, but after that the highs drop. It will still be above freezing though.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
