- Base salary. This is about 10% over what he's making now.
- Performance based bonus. This is given yearly, and will be in the 20% range.
- Sign on bonus. Pretty much what we expected. About 10% of his gross yearly salary.
- Stock. The stock grant was very generous, and represents 160% of his base salary.
- Relocation. We have a call with the relocation team next week, & have quite a few requests, so we'll see how that goes.
Up next - talking full specifics with the relo team to understand all of our options. The relo package is likely to be more complicated than the entire employment offer, so I'm very anxious to get that nailed down.
We haven't yet told my family. My parents are heading to Hawaii in a few days, & my mom is the kind of person who would be overwhelmed & stressed & saddened by the news of us leaving. We're planning on sharing the news in the next few weeks. In the meantime, I'll share the details with you all, so I don't explode! :-)
We are in full scale house decluttering mode. M is tackling the (quite frankly - SCARY) garage. I have a list of tasks longer than my arm. We're attending my nephew's birthday party tomorrow, and opted to make a full day of it to maximize time with the family. Here's what else I want to get done this weekend:
- Get a bunch of stuff listed on Craigslist:
- Treadmill. It's in awesome condition & I'm hoping we can get $500+ for it.
- We have a brand new meat slicer - never been used.
- Patio furniture
- A train table from Pottery Barn with drawers that hold lots of toys
- Bookshelf
- Pressure washer
- Leaf blower
- Start decluttering of the kids toys & clothes
- Go through our pantry for donations, things I want to give to my sister, etc.
- Make a menu to use our freezer food
- Make a list of what we're moving vs selling
- Start on a moving/timing/work schedule. Yikes!
What about you? What are you hoping to accomplish this weekend?
Wow! That's quite an offer. They obviously really want him as an employee. I don't think I've ever heard of a 401k match that high.
ReplyDeleteSo, are you moving? Or is it too early to tell?
The offer is awesome for sure, which is really the only reason we'd consider leaving Seattle. I work for a Fortune 500 company myself & have very generous benefits & just about died over the 401K match! :-)
Delete99% sure we're moving. This is a huge opportunity for M, & the hiring manager assured us that any & all relo asks would be met (ha ha - we shall see), so unless something big happens, yes.
Now it's about deciding about our houses here. We will definitely end up selling our vacation house, although that's on the back burner, timing wise. Figuring out our primary residence is our primary concern.
So much to think about and do - be sure to take care of yourself through all of this! Stressful but exciting too!
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right - on all accounts. I've been making time for my workouts (although still not as much as usual) & working on my deep breathing to get through the stress. It's surprisingly helpful! :-)
DeleteI'm so excited for you! But just reading your list sounds overwhelming :)
ReplyDeleteThis whole moving thing is quite overwhelming! But, at least we're decluttering the house. ;-) small victories
DeleteWow! Sounds like a great job!
ReplyDeleteI have vacation laundry and grocery shopping on my weekend agenda.
M is *very* excited about the job, as you can imagine. I'm very excited for him to move back to a larger company with more stability & health insurance. It will be huge for our family.
Deletevacation laundry is the worst! Hard enough to come back from a vacation, but facing down the mountain of laundry also brings me back to reality. ;-)
How overwhelming, exciting, exhilarating and wonderful all at one time! It sounds like it is the best for your family and you!
ReplyDeleteIf we were closer, I might consider that meat slicer!
It is most definitely all of those things! It's also emotional. I've only ever lived outside of Washington for one brief year, and while I have lived a few hours away from my childhood hometown for almost 20 years, I've always been close enough to attend all of our family celebrations. Now that will definitely change.
DeleteWish you were closer, because I'd love to give it to someone who would make good use of it!
