Sunday plans

It's another lovely day without an official schedule. I'm going to enjoy it! I do still have things to do, so let the planning for the day commence. I've actually been on quite a tear selling things (5 things out of the house in the last day), so I'll be getting those items prepped & ready to sell. I'm always happy to have the side hustle kick in.

I'll also be getting some batch cooking done, so we can fill the freezer with easy protein options.

The kids are still studying. Well, to be honest, Sam is studying (and, has been all weekend) & Nick acted like a sulky moody teen & refused. He cares a lot about his grade, but it's his decision. Hopefully he'll come around, because he will need the time before exams next week.

Here's what else I have planned for today:

  • 3 mile run
  • Laundry (gentles)
  • Laundry (regular stuff)
  • Make several batches of taco meat
  • Make crockpot carnitas
  • Run to the produce stand
  • Make guacamole & pico de gallo
  • Plan my schedule (work & family) for the week ahead
  • Package all eBay sales
  • List 2 new items (let's see what I come up with!)

That's it for me. What about you? What are you up to today?

  1. Sounds like a good plan for the day. We just got home from church and running to the store to get Rebecca a tri-fold board for her history day project. Now I am making the kids pizza rolls for lunch. Then I will eat and probably do laundry, figure out tutoring for the week, do the last chapter of Ben's reconciliation book with him, and watch some football later. Hope you have a good week!

  2. I'm still washing and drying all the blankets and towels we placed all over to make sure the dog didn't ruin anything. I have a crock pot pasta going for a nice lunch and Im got a little grocery shopping-very few items to pick up. I think I'll read today, I already took the dog for a walk and it felt good to get outside.

    1. It does feel so good to get outside, even in the winter. We all worked in the yard today for a few hours, & the weather wasn't great, but it was nice to be outside just the same.

  3. Oh, to have studious children. I was very studious as a teen and in college. My kids are not. Well, there was a period in h.s. when there was nothing anybody could do to get me to do my homework, but I snapped out of it of my own volition. I have tried everything, but finally let the kids (particularly my now college student) that it was their decision, and that there were two choices after h.s. if they wanted to stay on this meal plan: College or university. Now, my college kid takes pride in earning decent grades--still not a lot of studying going on though.

    1. One of the things I like the least about the bay area (outside of cost & traffic) is the intensity of the schools. The boys are learning things at 12 that i learned at 15. So, they definitely need to study. I wish it was less, because I personally don't think it benefits them to have that much studying requirement at this age.

  4. Well done on getting things out of your house. I hope to list at least 2 more things today as well :) It just started snowing here so definitely will be a day inside!

    1. Likewise! It's such a fun treat to have days without specific time commitments. I am really productive, and also just more relaxed.

    1. Tacos are great, and batch cook well. I usually make three pounds at a time, and we almost always have some in the freezer for a last minute meal option.

  7. I was laughing about the sulky teenager not studying. I am a boy only mom also and I do get the differences in kids. One of mine never had to study and made good grades, the other studied very hard and made good grades, the third, well we are just glad he decided to be a musician, his grades were a little above average, but not stellar by any means and he just thought he had better things to do than study.

    1. My kids are both pretty different, and Sam has extra challenges with ADHD. Nick is usually an incredibly easy kid to parent. This weekend, he was apparently struck by teen boy hormones ;-)
