I took requests from each of the teens for the menu this week. Normally, no one has any ideas, but this week, everyone had a suggestion. Hurrah for crowd sourcing part of the planning!
- Friday - grilled chicken salads
- Saturday - chicken with rice & buttered onions
- Sunday - ravioli/pasta & meatballs + garlic bread
- Monday - ground beef tacos
- Tuesday - chicken alfredo
- Wednesday - leftover chicken with rice
- Thursday - leftover ravioli & meatballs
- Friday - leftover chicken alfredo
What about you? What's on your menu this week? Do you poll your diners for suggestions? Does anyone actually give you ideas? :-)
Mmm..Chicken Alfredo sounds wonderful! I haven’t polled the family in a while. I may try that to see what they come up with!
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty good. I'm going to tweak the recipe a bit, but I liked it. (HP)
DeleteThe short answer: Yes and no. I truly don’t mind cooking dinner. In fact, I generally enjoy it. We are one of those families which is anchored by the kitchen and dining room table. What I can’t stand is the constant inner monologue of”what should we have for dinner, what’s on hand , what’s we have last night, what’s everyone’s schedule.” I also get annoyed when dinner plans have been made for a full table of 7 confirmed to be eating that night, I have cooked accordingly, only to have 2 or 3 change or inform me of other plans leaving loads of leftovers. Or, what has been happening more recently, planning a meal for a table of 3 or 4 confirmed, only to wind up with a full table! I would rather, given the choice, however, cook a meal that leaves no leftovers.

DeleteI feel this. I don't mind cooking, but have been very frustrated with the impromptu & unpredictable changes to the number of diners! It's led me to a bad habit of just not planning anything & winging it depending on who shows up. (HP)
DeleteThere is only one person to poll here and he seldom gives ideas other than what does not sound good. Of course if you wait until dinner time to weigh in with your opinion, all bets are off.
ReplyDeleteHa, exactly. Don't give me the sad face as I'm plating the food. You missed your chance! (HP)
DeleteIf I ask Bailey what she would like for dinner, she doesn't ever really say anything. But she eats whatever I make and doesn't complain and I'm OK with that. Mom & Dad were very picky eaters and that made meal planning very frustrating.
ReplyDeleteI have one picky eater (Nick, although he's MUCH improved over where he used to be). He learned to quick during COVID & did most of our meal prep & that really helped him see all of the ingredients in a recipe & be a little less afraid to try new things.
DeleteIt makes such a difference to have someone who will eat basically anything, so glad you have Bailey dining with you! (HP)
