Saturday Happenings

The opposite side of last week's Saturday Happenings, as I'm back from my trip. It was a reasonably good trip from a logistics perspective (all flights on time, hurrah!), which is always nice. The entertainment unit was busted on the way to London, and given I don't sleep on flights, that was a LONG flight to not have any movies or TV to watch.

The hotel was ... interesting. I'm used to small hotel rooms, from traveling in Europe & Asia, but this was truly tiny. It had a twin bed! There was nowhere really for my suitcase to be, except wedged between the bed & the wall. ;) There were some very interesting design decisions. Oh well, I definitely appreciate being back home now.

I landed in the afternoon, Ubered home, & then unpacked & started a load of laundry. I realized there was basically nothing in the fridge, so I made myself some popcorn while I did that, and then went to the grocery store where I picked up a few things.

I was in bed by 7 pm (my goal for myself) & slept until 6 am. That's how tired I was!

For today, I have more than enough to keep me busy:

  • Workout class, hopefully with a friend joining
  • Grocery store for a proper stock up
  • Make a meal plan for the week
  • Prep some sort of healthy food!
  • Virtual call with my sister + BFF, where we need to catch up on our Greece planning! It's coming up really quickly, suddenly
  • Complete expense report
  • Catch up on home budgeting tasks
  • Start cleaning the house. It's pretty gross. Probably split into today & tomorrow
  • Laundry

The bed in my hotel room, for visual interest... And, that's the full room size. ;-)

What are you up to today?

  1. Thanks for sharing the picture. As I create my future travel notebook, I need to be aware of space when I see small spaces but lower cost. I truly have never seen a single room with just a twin bed before, though see them as options. I'm glad forvyou your logistics went well and your entry home seems to be working as you planned.

    1. I can only book the room my company has pre-selected & negotiated with the hotel, so I didn't even see what the type of room it was until I arrived. My sister didn't believe me that the room/bed was that small, so I took my hoodie & laid it across the bed and the hoodie width was bigger. And, this is just a regularly sized women's medium hoodie. It was the tiniest room! - HP

    1. It wasn't quite as productive as I'd dreamed (it never is), but I still got quite a bit done, and let's be honest, it was as much as I could handle with the jet lag. - HP

  3. Hopefully you got some travel credit or miles comp for the broken TV! If you were flying United, they’ll always throw some comp your way.

    1. It was a British Airways flight. The flight attendant told me that I would definitely receive something & that they had "started the process" on their side, but I haven't heard anything. I went ahead & filled out the forms on my side, so we shall see. I don't fly BA often, but maybe we will have a use for it with a code share. - HP

  4. Glad your trip was mostly uneventful. International flights need entertainment. I am like you and cannot sleep on a flight.
    Get some rest!

    1. They certainly do! When you don't sleep, it's a LONG time to be trying to entertain yourself. - HP

  5. I am so glad that flights were on time. I always take my ereader with me on the plane just in case things don't work correctly. My goodness that really was a tiny room.

    God bless.

    1. I had my Kindle with me, luckily, but since I have library books instead of a Kindle Unlimited, I had way fewer book options. But, it was definitely better than nothing! - HP

  6. LOL I stayed in an Airbnb in Montreal over Easter. It had a full / Queen bed but was fairly small, the washroom was bonkers. It's only good for one person, but this is tiny! I am glad flights ran on time and you got your rest!

    1. This room was... very interesting, let's go with. Nick has stayed in a few dorm rooms (Stanford was by far the smallest) & this was much smaller than even that! It was nuts. I had to take calls in the room in the evenings, and I could touch the walls while sitting at the "desk" area. ;-) - HP
