Back from Greece

Trip was amazing, but travel logistics were exhausting! We had three flights yesterday (four for my sister) & it was a 24 hour travel day for two of us, and closer to 30 hours for my sister, as her final leg was delayed. Poor thing.

I will definitely prioritize places that are closer next time, but absolutely loved, loved Paros & would take M there if it gets any easier to get there. I've heard they are expanding their airport a bit.

    1. It really was so lovely! I would minimize logistics next time for sure, and have some ideas, if M & I ever end up there again. - HP

  2. Wonderful. Yes, I had two connections g flights but that was more budget as I only went to Athens.

    1. It's such a production with the connections! I'm lucky for most of my travel that we fly out of SFO, which is a major hub for most destinations. It's more unusual for me to need a connection. - HP

  3. Welcome home! No matter how fab a trip is, a difficult journey home just makes the GETTING home all the sweeter!

We've been to Greece a couple of times, and it is always wonderful. In some ways I feel like it's a slightly overlooked region compared to, say, Britain, France, Spain. I"m not sure why, other than the overall economics perhaps? But so glad you went there and experienced it for yourself.

    1. I think, at least for the US, it's also just quite difficult to get to? Add in any island travel & that makes it much more complicated. I can get to the UK, France or Spain in one flight, vs 3 flights for any of the islands. Athens I could do in 2 flights. But yes, it's super lovely & enjoyable to be there. - HP

  4. New follower! We are about to get direct flights to Greece from DFW- still long but that might help a bit!

    1. Welcome, Karen! And, envious of the direct flight option from DFW! SFO is pretty limited on that side, given west coast location. We are lucky for most destinations, at least. - HP

    1. Oh my goodness, the food was incredible. We had so many fabulous meals. I also loved the local cheese. I think it's a gruyere style, but super mild & goes with everything. We ate so many Greek salads, gyros, shrimp with orzo... it was all delicious! We had some really great experiences. - HP

  8. I spent a month in Paros last year as part of a 3 month trip, it was my favourite place. Planning a trip back to Greece next year, can’t wait. Long flight from Australia.

    1. Very jealous you spent a month in Paros - that sounds amazing. Ironically, I can get direct to New Zealand in significantly less time than Greece. Greece is closer, but logistics are much more challenging. I have a post coming up on what we did on each island & enjoyed the most + what we would do differently next time. - HP
