The rain, the wind, the thunder. Oh, 13 miles I'll never forget! I ran the entire thing in my husband's rain coat, because I don't even own a waterproof running jacket. It was huge on me, and flapped in the wind. I'm sure I made quite a few people laugh.
Pros:
- It certainly wasn't too hot
- I shaved 90 seconds off of my finish time
- My knees and ankles feel totally fine
- Overall, not much soreness at all
- It's done!
Cons:
- I didn't properly fuel, and felt really low energy.
- The last three miles were super difficult
- It was so rainy. Everything was wet
- Blisters on my feet, due to wet socks/shoes
- It was hard to keep the motivation going, when the rain was just pooling off of me
I'm running a relay in less than two weeks, so I need to get back into consistently running this week. And, my first day of sabbatical (today) didn't exactly go as planned. That's life, I suppose? ;-) More to come! Hope everyone had a great weekend!
I am seriously impressed you finished the race in that weather! Well done!
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely not what we were hoping for, weather wise, at this time of year, but it's done!
DeleteWhat an accomplishment. I'm so happy you met some of your personal goals.
ReplyDeleteIt felt like an accomplishment to keep going, because that was definitely top of mind!
DeleteI used to run in the rain it was the wind that killed me. I cannot stand wind. Your poor feet.
ReplyDeleteMy feet are looking better, but yikes. It was just no fun. I have done a few long runs when we lived in Seattle, in the winter, where it was freezing & raining & windy. I once listened to Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" on repeat for like an hour, trying to get through it. Building mental toughness, I suppose? ;-)
DeleteGreat job! I don't run further than a half mile now because I'm worried about plantar fasciitis.
ReplyDeleteI love running, but go through phases of injuries or just needing more rest than usual. The downside of getting old, I suppose?
