Saving on things we buy
- Can't think of anything in this category. We've just been buying groceries, and nothing is really on sale these days
Earning money
- Continued listing items on eBay, and making small sales. Sold a couple of items I've had listed for months, which always feels great.
- Found $.01 on the ground
Avoiding spending:
- Picked up lemons out of a neighbor's "free" box, and juiced them. I've been enjoying lemon in my water each day.
- Mailing eBay sales out of repurposed packages & bags from prior purchases we've made
- I've been doing a huge amount of yard work. We will likely consider hiring a monthly yard service (once allowed again), as it's something we discussed when I got my last raise. However, we don't want to pay for some of the bigger projects that exist, and would prefer to handle those on our own prior to starting the service.
- Making meals at home, reducing waste, menu planning to ensure we're using what we have on hand.
What about you? Any frugal wins to report?
That was great to get the free lemons from your neighbor's free box. I try to drink a cup of hot lemon water each morning as it is supposed to be good for you, but lemonade works too and I love it. It's so refreshing. Sounds like you've had a good and frugal week.
ReplyDeleteSame ways of saving here. Love that neighbors are sharing. I can't help think that if everyone that has taken up gardening gets a bounty, there will be a lot of sharing of excess produce, particularly things like cucumbers, that unless you make pickles, can't really be frozen or canned as is. We really should look more into E-bay. I think my daughters could make a good go of it.
ReplyDeletePicked up some free magazines from our Facebook 24 hour bidding site for me and Mom to read. They spent 3 days in the garage then were brought inside for disinfection. We walked there as it was 1.5 blocks away so absolutely zero money spent even on gas. I tried to lower a bill. Wasn't successful. Same day our accountant sent us a bill for something that I thought was included. I pushed the issue and they voided the bill.(that was for the company). That was $250 saved :)
ReplyDeleteGardeners here in S. California never stopped working. They are, literally, everywhere, as are pool cleaning services. Odd how unevenly counties have responded!
