It's been a wild & crazy week at work (again), but I'm turning the corner, heading into a quieter Thursday & Friday.
A few positive things to share:
- Sam is going back to school! We officially have a date of 4/19. Thrilled! Absolutely thrilled. He's never "been" to high school before, so this will be quite a transition for him. The kids have been out of school since early March, so this will represent one year, and six weeks since the last time he was in person.
- Nick is returning to school in early April, and it feels like back to school. The boys need backpacks & shoes & have outgrown "regular" clothes. It hasn't been as noticeable, as everyone is wearing pajama pants on calls. ;-)
- Sam made the high school JV soccer team. He's thrilled! His cleats, of course, have a hole in them & this was discovered today. He has his first scrimmage on Saturday. His coach has duct taped the shoes in the interim.
- I'm in the next wave of vaccine distribution & have an appointment!
- Spring is in the air, and our newly planted tulip tree is blossoming.

Oh, they grow quite large here & are gorgeous. I'll try and get a picture of a mature one. Ours is just a baby.

I really can't complain about too much because when CV got bad in CA we returned to live in Australia which is almost untouched by CV. So day to day life is normal for us, kids go to school, no mask wearing, we go to coffee shops and restaurants. All I can say is after 7 months of mask wearing returning to a life without was a beautiful thing. Stay strong, better things are around the corner for all in the US.

DeleteSo happy for making the team. Yes now every one has to buy shoes and clothes for the kids as no one went shopping for over a year.
ReplyDeleteIn the last two weeks, I've purchased three pair. Their feet are growing like crazy. Sam is wearing a 10.5 in mens shoes, which is so large!
DeleteI love tulip trees! There were many in our neighborhood.The weather will be in 80s this next week, so I am happy about that.
ReplyDeleteThe nice weather sounds really lovely. We're having a bit of a cold & damp spell. We are spoiled by good weather typically, so I won't complain much. ;-)
DeleteOur neighbors finally trimmed back the hedges in their backyard thanks to, ahem, some serious nudging by the HOA, so after almost four years in our home we can finally sit outside and enjoy expansive sunset views without having to go upstairs to our balcony.
ReplyDeleteOh, and a Doug Emhoff sighting yesterday in that I'm currently in DC with my east coast daughter and granddaughters. That made me so happy!

They are so beautiful when grown & in full bloom. I'll keep my eye out for one on my walks, & try & get a photo.
DeleteThe boys are nervous, more than excited. I think they have forgotten the fun parts of school, and only remember the getting up earlier, and needing to wear real clothes. ;-)
The tulip trees here have just started to bloom and the Bradford pears are in full bloom, with the redbuds right behind them..
ReplyDeleteI know both of your sons are excited to be headed back to a real classroom. Covid has changed the way we all dress I think. Staying at home I have become a sports bra addict and am wondering if I will ever go back to an underwire bra again.

I don't find my sports bras to be that comfortable! I must know what kind you & Susan are wearing. I'd love something comfy for at home. For running, I need a serious business sports bra, which tends to be uncomfortable for all day use.
DeleteI'm happy for you and the boys. The little steps forward are giving me hope. I should be in the group that opened on Wednesday, but it is a very big group and likely will take through end of April to get done with vaccines. I'll be patient.
ReplyDeleteI got lucky with an appointment through my rheumatologist, and was thrilled. But, then the supply of vaccines didn't come through as expected, so they bumped me to late April. Then again back to next week. I'm cautiously optimistic. They made huge progress on vaccinating our educators - Sam's district hit 89% vaccination in two weeks, which is really incredible, given the staff is spread out in three counties (each county have very different supply & distribution) & the school district is quite large. I'm so happy for everyone starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
DeleteThat's the size my 13 yr old (he turns 14 next week) wears as well. It's pretty crazy. My nephews are both in high school, and have grown out of standard mens shoe sizes - now that gets expensive!
