Saving on things we buy
- We purchased our preferred local airline gift cards at 10% off, for upcoming travel
- Used grocery store rewards to save a bit on a few things we needed
- Uploaded receipts to iBotta & Fetch to save a little here & there
Earning money
- I sold a very expensive item on eBay, they paid, & then requested a refund without explanation. I refunded them, because those kind of buyers create problems, even if you require them to honor their transaction. It looks like eBay charged me $12? I'm unimpressed.
Avoiding spending
- Picked up a free soup (Panera rewards) while I was getting lunch. M had that for his lunch, avoiding the need for another meal
- Used a Starbucks reward to treat a few teens to breakfast after a soccer game
- Picked up two freebies at the grocery store: a yogurt & cookies
Eating what we have
- Inventoried our freezer, so I could see what we had available, & make it easier to find prepped meals.
- Had tacos (from the freezer) this week
- Ate (dinner out leftovers) for lunch
For others
- One of the boys friends was really sad about a soccer interaction, so I invited him to an impromptu brunch with us. I was already driving Sam & another player home, and he was glad to be included, & cheered up
- Helped another parent with a ride, x2
- I assisted an elderly woman with her shopping, & she was so appreciative & friendly. It really put a smile on my face.
- Got a chance to chat with my new mentee, which was exciting
That's it from my side. What about you? Any wins to share?
I love your for others section each week. Helping the elderly lady with her groceries is such a thoughtful gesture and I’m sure she appreciates it so much. :)
ReplyDeleteI always like the reminder to look for opportunities during the week. Building the list is such a great mental reminder!
DeleteYou had a good week but that charge by Ebay kind of smacked you in the face. I need to put on my ski gloves and inventory the freezer, but I keep putting it off.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like they may have credited me back. The item never left my house - they bought, paid, & canceled within four hours. So strange. Good luck with your freezer inventory!
DeleteI hope to stay home all day, getting stuff done and not spending $$. I'm ignoring the Friday sales texts to avoid more spending. The ebay charge is a bummer.
ReplyDeleteI can't tell if I received a credit. It was a really strange transaction, where the item was purchased, paid for, & then canceled within a few hours.
DeleteI definitely need to inventory my kitchen freezer. It's so full. Maybe that's something I can get to this weekend...
ReplyDeleteI thought I'd done well repairing a tear in a dress this week, but when I took it out of the wash this morning, I found it had torn several more times. UGH. This was fairly new (most of my clothes come from thrift stores, with good reason- if it's lasted that long, it'll likely last a little longer, unlike this dress!) and I'd only worn it once or two times before. Super not impressed. But in wins, I managed to get reasonably healthy dinners made every night, despite being pretty busy this week, so I'm happy with that!
Have a great weekend!
Oh, so sorry to hear about your dress! I hate it when things like that happen.
DeleteAwesome work getting healthy dinners made each night. That's a huge win!
Sounds like a good week!
ReplyDeleteI hope the buyer returned your item before you refunded them. People will try all kinds of scams. I've seen all kinds of crazy things over the years. I always ask for all kinds of proof if they ask for a refund. Ebay will only keep the fees if the seller is at fault. Based on the fees, I can tell about how much this item was. yikes!
It actually never left my house. They purchased it/paid/returned, within a few hours. I think eBay might have refunded me the charge they billed me for? I can't tell. I may have to contact them, which is far from my favorite thing.
DeleteOne kid had very expensive repairs that needed to be done to his car but he figured out how to do it himself. Not my win but I am so happy for him! I bought hamburger meat, steak, and shrimp for the weekend. I know it is expensive but still cheaper than eating out. He also figured out how to do a repair to his house, which was my mom’s house, inexpensively. He is my go to handyman. Cindy in the South
ReplyDeleteAwesome win for your son! And, he & you are both so lucky that he's handy. Well done.
DeleteJust the usual here, I hope to get my Frugal Friday up today as I got caught up in other things yesterday.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
