I'm finally seeing some progress

After a very busy weekend, I feel like we're finally starting to see some progress on the house! We've sold a bunch of stuff on Craigslist (honestly, I would have paid some people to take things so we don't have to move them ;-)), so the house is definitely emptying out.

There is still a tremendous amount of work to be done, but if I had to guess, I would say that I'm about 75% done with my part. M has the garage, which will likely take as long as the rest of the house put together. ;-)

Here's my focused list of tasks for the week. We're also heading to San Francisco late on Friday evening to do a little exploring of the area, which should be fun. :-)

  1. Determine school district & register boys. - Waiting to hear back from the relo team on housing options. I'm starting to get very anxious about this, as we haven't heard back. Until we know what district our rental house will be in, we can't register the boys for school.
  2. List treadmill on Craigslist.
  3. Clean both freezers.
  4. Figure out additional benefits at M's work.
  5. Find a new rheumatologist & get on a waiting list. (Dependent on knowing which town we'll be in, as I'd prefer not to drive too far.)
  6. Find the boys a new pediatrician. (Dependent on knowing which town we'll be in, as I'd prefer not to drive too far.)
  7. Get school supply list for new school. (Again, dependent on school district).
  8. Mail all eBay sales.
  9. Put aside spices I need for the next few weeks, & then package up all spices for the car.
  10. Deep clean kitchen.
  11. Sell last few remaining items on Craigslist.
  12. Make a trip to the Goodwill.
  13. Go through all open cleaning supplies, household products & list a bunch of stuff that we can't move on Freecycle. I hate to throw it away!

What are you up to this week? Anything fun that you're looking forward to? Even though it's going to be a quick & crazy trip, I'm looking forward to having at least a dinner alone with M this weekend. The kids are staying with my lovely sister. :-)

  1. Good for you! Getting through your list must feel very gratifying!

I'm going to start listing stuff on Craigs List...I would LOVE to recoup some extra cash that we've been spending.

    1. It's starting to feel good! My favorite - I had a pretty nice coffee table that I listed on Craigslist for $20. I like to price things low to avoid bickering over pricing, & just to get it out the door. Someone asked if I would deliver it - to downtown Seattle, which is about 25 minutes from my house. Pay for parking, & move it into their house. Again, it was listed at $20. Hilarious! They couldn't figure out why I wasn't interested. ;-)

  2. Sounds like lots is held back until you find out where the relocation team is putting y'all.
When you get word on that, you'll have tons to do. Do what you can now and take a break because when the word comes down, you're going to need all your energy! ;-)

I'm with you.....I'd rather sell or give stuff away than drag it across a state or two to a new house.

    1. I'm hoping for tomorrow!! We shall see. We know what town we will be in, but have no further details beyond that.

Exactly - I'd rather just give it away to someone who can use it!

  3. I'm with you, this last month I gave away an antique armoire, and a vintage cabinet. I didn't love them or use them so off they went.
Do you know if you're in the city or outside yet. ?

    1. Definitely not in the city. We're looking at Mountain View, Cupertino, & Pleasanton this weekend when we go on a little scouting trip!

    1. Ha! I wish. :-) I'm just very type A/list oriented. I come from a long line of obsessive women. ;-)
