We also bought a bottle of wine to take to dinner tonight, but that goes into our alcohol budget. Can't wait for date night. What about you? Have you been sticking to your grocery budget, or blowing it? I'm going to have a hard time sticking to mine with a big first purchase for the month, but I should be all stocked up for meat for a while.

  1. Interesting! We paid $4.79 for a honeydew melon the other day, but otherwise paid the same here for salami, organic eggs and grapes. We paid less ($4.79) for a large bag of yellow onions. Organic chicken breast cost more, but we bought chicken thighs instead. Hot dogs are the same price here, but our remaining daughter isn't all that crazy about them so we passed them by this time.

    1. The onions were the red ones. I tried to talk M into the $4.79 bag of cheaper onions, but he prefers the red ones. ;-) Fascinating that the prices are so similar! I think milk is a big outlier? Or, is it similarly priced as well?

    2. I think even the Costco milk prices are similar, but none of us are milk drinkers so we don't buy it. We pick up a quart now and then at Safeway, but sometimes even that doesn't get used before it sours.

    1. Once I started to see how many types of meat we were out of, I knew this trip would be a doozy.
