Menu Plan Monday

Trying to get back in the habit of regular meal planning again. Here's what we're planning on having this week!

  • Monday - Homemade pizza. I made dough yesterday, so this should be easy after work. I'm thinking artichokes, roasted pepper, & meatballs for the adults, & cheese for the kids. With veggies & hummus on the side.
  • Tuesday - Leftover burgers + homemade buns.
  • Wednesday - Tilapia/chicken (adults/kids) + pasta with pesto sauce.
  • Thursday - Stuffed peppers. I'll roast whatever is left.
  • Friday - leftover pizza.
  • Saturday - leftover peppers.
  • Sunday - Likely, grilled chicken. If not, spaghetti sauce from the freezer.
What about you? What's on your menu for the week? How are you keeping your costs down this January? I'm trying to do my same old plan - staying out of the stores, except for my weekly shopping trip (to avoid impulse purchases), sticking with a relatively core menu, and making as much at home as possible. And, reducing food waste. We're getting MUCH better about this one!

  1. Trying to stay out of the grocery store here. Spent about $50 last week....still have to dig out the receipts and check on the exact amount. We have leftovers enough form last week to get to Wednesday w/out hitting the store, which is my usual day to shop(since they do markdowns mid-week).
Buy a dog if you REALLY want to eliminate food waste! lolz

    1. I would love a dog! But, would feel too guilty keeping it inside all day while we worked. Some day!

  2. Having bacon burgers tonight with french fries! I'm going to brave it and grill outdoors with very cold temps cause I don't like burgers on the stove top!

    Your menu sounds delicious!
Keeping ALL expenses down by not spending...it's going good so far!

  3. Same as you really - just not spending except for things absolutely needed. You are always making bread - nervous about it. Tried a long time ago and me and yeast didn't go together!

    1. I cheat & use the breadmaker. I failed many times at yeast recipes, and eventually got the hang of it, but the breadmaker makes life so dang easy.

  4. I still haven't made my menu plan... *hangs head in shame* But I do know that tomorrow will be BBQ ribs, potatoes & veggies. And for lunch we're going to do homemade mini pizzas! So at least tomorrow is taken care of! lol!

  5. I'm trying to keep costs down this month but I'm failing. We still haven't been able to get the check engine light off in DJ's car. The check engine light is now on in my van and it failed emissions. Plus I got a recall letter from Kia so my van has now been pushed to the head of the class and is going to get work done. Sigh. I hope to keep costs down but I doubt I will.

    1. Car problems are the pits. Mostly unexpected, & always unpleasant!
