My Black Friday spending

Has involved. . .

  • Yoga on the beach ($17! - I did bring my own DVD, but there's no room to really make it happen in our room. Also, the instructor was amazing, so I didn't mind much. It was also 75 minutes, and she pushed me super hard. In a yoga-ish way. ;-)
  • Two beers, a corn dog, and a burger while watching the Apple Cup football game. Go Huskies! :-) M & I each had a beer. Despite the fact that the kids had already had lunch in the room, they "needed" a second lunch. I suppose it's possible, given how much activity they've had each day. Swimming & fooling around the hotel grounds (football, soccer, etc) all day. 10 hours a day.
  • I bought a Christmas gift for Nick from Amazon for $14.99 (on sale on Black Friday), saving $4. It's a youth football with a tee & pump. Both boys are about to start flag football, so they'll love this.
  • Lemon juice & garlic salt from the local store - $4
And, that's it, folks. I'm enjoying a nice glass of wine (from Costco!) & we are going to have goat cheese crostini & barbecued chicken (& salad) for dinner. It's a nice mix of splurge & savings.

A picture from our evening last night. We had dinner in the room (grilled burgers, of course) & then went out for pie. Some had pumpkin, one outlier had sorbet (Nick is not a pie fan) & Sam & I shared an amazing "hula pie". . . A perfect Thanksgiving.

How was your Black Friday? Any great deals, or did you opt to stay home?

  1. I use the $10 off $25 books coupon on amazon. And I ordered our Christmas cards getting the total down to $9 from $37 using coupon codes and black friday prices from Shutterfly. No other spending. Spent the afternoon at a friends home for a second thanksgiving meal. Looks like you guys are having a wonderful time!

  2. I hit Rite-Aid hard and then got something for no money online at Macy's. That's it for my BF lunacy. 8-)

  4. You had a wonderful day! I didn't spend a cent (but pre-spent the day before...) - Black Friday has become a thing in Canada now even though it is a normal work day for us. Sigh.

    1. The craziness of it kind of kills me. I used to really enjoy going out & deal seeking. . . now it depresses me a bit.

  5. I hit Rite Aid after the bird was in the oven on Thursday, accumulating gobs of Plenti Points. Then, DH took the boys to Macy's on Friday, using our points. They also hit Michael's and Costco. He bought the boys new sneakers too. The girls and I stayed home, until she mentioned that she needed hay for her piggies, so it was a quick trip to the farm store. All in all, a restful day.

    1. Yeah for Rite Aid. And, a trip for hay sounds like a perfect BF activity. Love it. And yes, so many Plenti Point opportunities at Rite Aid! Loved that you converted it for shoes - smart thinking.

  6. Black Friday has become popular in Canada. I bought an electric blanket (regulary $300 half price to $158 including tax) from a Canadian online store, a purchase that I had been planning for 2 mos and got it $100 less than I thought. Also popped over to our nearby pharmacy for 4 Terry Chocolate Oranges for the kids which were $3.50 regularly $6 each. That is it! There was hardly anyone else in the store so I did not have to fight anyone off - so not my style of shopping. Sounds like a lovely Thanksgiving to me!

    1. Those are some great deals! Oh, now I"m wishing I'd bought chocolate oranges. I must confess that I did splurge & buy some chocolate covered macadamia nuts, which were on some sort of BF deal. Delish!
