Fitness Monday

I've been getting back into the groove of health & fitness after a bunch of holiday indulgences. Generally, that's going well, although not perfect!

Weight: I've dropped two pounds since the beginning of the year, although it's fair to say the original weight was probably overly "inflated", due to eating out & the like while skiing. Still, it gives me a good starting point for my plans.

Steps per day: It's my goal to hit 12k steps per day in 2025. I'm off to a good start with a daily average of 12,721. I have a few outlier days in either direction (low steps & high steps), but generally this is going well. Ski days & the like will be a problem, as my watch doesn't recognize skiing as "steps". ;-)

Calories per day: I'd like to be in the 1400 range consistently, and see how my weight adapts from there. My average calories per day is 1,594, so higher than I'd like. I had a few high days at the beginning of the year, and one day on Friday. Otherwise, this is generally going okay. I am tracking regularly, which makes it very helpful to see trends, and also reminds me of the goals.

Workouts for the week:

  • 5 days of Orange Theory (a 60 minute combo cardio + strength class)
  • 2 hikes (one 6ish miles, one 7)
Overall nutrition: I'm eating well in general. I can still cut out some "snacky" calories, and I can also improve my "No S" diet, as I've had sweets a couple of times.

I'm giving myself a "B" for the past week. This week will be more challenging to stay on track, as we are skiing & staying in a hotel. The skiing itself is great exercise, but driving to Lake Tahoe & back means lots of time sitting. We will also be eating out for the trip, and food on mountain is rarely very healthy. I'll have to experiment with some different options this weekend.

What about you? How are you doing with your health & fitness this week?

  1. You are off to a great start! All I can say for myself is that we haven't eaten out for over a week now, so I guess that counts as a win. Haha! We've been doing lots of soups and stews with fresh ingredients, and I hope to continue that. Enjoy your ski trip!
