December goals - how did I do?

I'm late catching up with everything, but better late than never!

Here's how I did with my monthly goals. Prepare to be unimpressed by my progress! December was a wild ride.

Financial:

  • Help friends who have asked for financial planning advice before - no, but this is kicking off in January
  • Earn $200 in side hustle - $9.58. Hold the applause, please ;-)
  • Meet with financial planner on tax advice - done!
  • Sort Donor Advised Fund (DAF) - done!
Family:
  • One date night with M + lots of hiking - yes, NYE in Las Vegas + lots of hiking
  • A fabulous Christmas break - it was wonderful!
  • Decide on the rest of our family travel (if any) & budget - likely to be a summer trip to the Oregon coast. Details still TBD
  • Help both teens with registration & planning - done
  • Nudge Nick & support on housing for next year - nudged, but no progress on his side. Expecting this in January.
Fitness:
  • Lose 2 lbs - ha, no. I gained 2 lbs.
  • Regular fitness check ins - I did this
  • 15 & 15 - strength training & No S days - 7 & 4
  • Meal prep for lunches - yes
  • Average 12,500 steps/day - 13,597 - lots of hiking
Personal:
  • Get together with friends x2 - several workouts, coffee & two holiday dinners
  • Say yes to adventure & trying new things - hiking, & planning friend meet ups
  • Declutter 50 items - 12/50
  • Finalize goals for 2026 - yes

What about you? Hopefully you had a more productive December than I did!

  1. If any unsolicited advice I could offer, but I'd recommend nudging Nick to stay in dorms one more year. I think sophomore year is a big discovery year, and the stabilization if campus living can help ground college students away from home. In hindsight, I wish we'd have insisted my son live first two instead of just one in the dorms. Let's say he explored a bit too much with the freedom. Different kids, different needs though I understand.

    1. We would love that, but it's not an option at Boulder due to a housing shortage. It's also a very difficult rental market, so options are sparse! I'm hoping he goes with an apartment vs a house, which at least has a bit more structure, needs fewer roommates, etc. - HP

  2. You're not giving yourself proper credit. Two yellow items ought to be green (Meal prep for lunches and Help both teens with registration & planning). Looks like a productive December. - Ringo

  3. Still trying to plan my goals, but it is the 7th and I have yet to go to a grocery store, so I call that a win! You are doing great! Not Bossy here.
