April Goals Recap

April was both a fast & slow month. I felt like things moved quickly on the personal side, but with the job searching, it was a lot of "hurry up" and then "wait".

Here's how I did with my goals for the month.

Financial:

  • Pay our state & federal taxes - yes, and managed to get the boys filed on time, despite receiving their W2s a couple of days before the deadline.
  • Get a new job - still a work in progress, but lots of effort being put in.
  • Start part-time job - yes, I'll be teaching my fourth class tonight
  • Earn $300 in side hustle - I made $342 in April.
  • Pantry/freezer challenge: 1 bottle of dressing, 1 package of holiday cheese, soup from the freezer - Oddly, I made huge progress on the freezer, but only one of the items on my target list (the soup) was used up. We've eaten through all of our freezer meals leftovers, made a big dent in the frozen fruit, and finally used up the fish sticks that no one really liked.
Family:
  • Help Nick with college prep - yes, we're basically ready until the next deadline
  • Help Nick with spring break & senior trip planning - more to do here, but things are moving along
  • Optimize points, perks & miles. Track value. - we didn't have any traveling or book anything this month.
  • Unplanned bonus: Sam got a summer job, so that will be helpful for him to save up for next quarter.
Fitness:
  • Lose 2 lbs - I lost a lb this month, but am still over my lowest weight of the year by around .2 lbs.
  • Strength train 15 days - 16/15
  • No S diet 15 days - 14/15
  • Average 13,000 steps/day - 14,172/day average
  • Meditate 10 times - 15/10
  • Attend another tread class - I attended another tread class
Personal:
  • Declutter 50 items from the house - 25/50
  • Get together with friends 2x  - several coffee meet ups & 3-4 hikes
  • Play pickleball x1 - nope
  • Help students (volunteer role) make college decisions - yes, had a couple of calls with my students
  • Do something towards my goals of "try something new & uncomfortable" and "say yes to more adventures" - yes! Attended a march, job searched, taught a class for the first time, and completed a "dry triathlon"
  • Reduce screen time - I think I was pretty much about the same as previous months

What about you? How did you do with your goals this month?

  1. Congratulations on a lot of green. I feel like I should relook at my 2025 Hopes list, but perhaps just doing a May goal list is a good step.

  3. You did fantastic! To answer your question, I got the whole house foundation repairs completed, the toilet, shower, two sinks, repaired, purchased the heating/air conditioner window unit but it is not installed yet, cut the front and side huge trees so that they would not fall on house or power lines, removed front bushes and planted roses. I did not get around to pressure washing my house. The windows and door are supposed to be installed in May. Cindy in the South
