Saturday Happenings

The boys had both Thursday & Friday off of school, so things have been pretty loud around here. ;-) Working with them around is...not without its challenges.

Garden things:

I picked a couple of carrots from the garden yesterday, & they were so delicious. I also picked a few more pomegranate & they are amazing. I'm sad they are seasonal, because they are my favorite treat.

Holiday prep:

I've been doing the majority of my Christmas shopping, I tried on a few things I need to fill in wardrobe gaps, & now know exactly what I'd like to order during the Black Friday sales. I picked up a few gift cards at a discount, for the store that has the clothing items. Now I just need some good prices as it gets closer to Christmas.

Travel plans:

We booked a ski trip for February. It will be Sam's 16th birthday, which is very difficult to believe! We are planning to go to Park City, Utah. M has been, but the rest of us haven't. I was able to find a nice condo that is ski in/out, and has a kitchen.

I'm also planning work travel. So much work travel. I'm trying to add some personal travel around it, which helps make the work travel much more palatable. If things work out, I'll be in London in February, and my sister will join me over my birthday. M was hoping to go, but my parents aren't able to watch the kids at that time, so my sister will happily step in. I'll have a free hotel room (work), and pick up her ticket with miles. It should be lovely, if it works out. Despite having been to London at least ten times, I've never seen a single sight, or spent even a day doing tourist stuff. All of my trips have needed to be rush in/out, and consist of: the airport, the hotel, the office, the airport. Not the most fun. I'm trying this new approach to work travel, and hope it reminds me of the great opportunity to get to see part of the world.

What else am I up to today?

  • I need to pull out the zucchini plants
  • Take Nick to his reffing game
  • Take Sam to two soccer games
  • Make balsamic chicken
  • Laundry
  • Make the menu
  • Produce stand
  • Grocery store
  • Work on my Christmas spreadsheet
  • Track our recent expenses
  • Work out
That will do it. What about you? What are you up to today?

    1. Cleaning really doesn't end, does it? I'm with you - it just hangs over me!

  2. A ski trip? So exciting! What's on my plate today. Catch up on podcasts while I clean. Organize my pantry. Clean out my refrigerator. Re-organize my work space. Go thru my clothes. Update my budget for the rest of the year. Work out. I also have a ton of Hallmark movies to play in the background.

    1. We all love skiing, so it's a great family "adventure" activitiy.

  3. Both trips sound fun! What a great idea to combine a work trip with leisure.

Yummy on the carrots. I thought of you when I saw pomegranates at the produce market earlier this week :) I'm missing all our fresh garden produce already. Hope you find lots of good deals during BF sales.

    Have a great weekend!

  5. You are having a very busy day. It was supposed to be quieter here, but with our ice storm and road closures Harvey could not travel up to meet Kris for the football game.

I made him pumpkin pies to cheer him up a bit.

    God bless.

  6. Yum, carrots! Now that we have potatoes growing, I am so tempted to add another few plants to our wee container garden. I wonder what plays nicely with potatoes.

We had a couple friends over for dinner so our Saturday was mostly about that and getting Smol's flu shot.

    1. Hope your dinner with friends was great. I'm impressed that you are growing potatoes. We haven't gotten to that. Maybe next year.

  7. Congrats to your son!!! How exciting.

I've never done any tourist days, but I'm bringing my sister for the London version, and will plan a few days in Tokyo.. Likely not in Q1, but in Q2 my husband will join & we will explore Japan.
