Here's what we've been up to this week:
- Drove our electric car for commutes & charged for free at work
- Ate at home for all dinners. (Kids have packed lunches, and adults eat for free at work)
- Adjusted the pricing on an eBay item, and have multiple bids. This is an item I received for free at work, so all upside.
- Reviewed our Q1-Q3 spending for 2018, and started to work through our proposed changes for 2019.
- Picked more tomatoes to ripen inside (with a banana, in a sealed bag)
- Continued to make creative use out of our freezer options. For this week, we've eaten the following lingering freezer items:
- Taquitos
- Butternut squash (turned into soup)
- Baguette bread (turned into crostini)
- Grilled hot dogs
- I also made hummus at home, using garden jalapenos

The hummus sounds so good! October will be a tight month-I need to use up more of what we have.
ReplyDeleteThe hummus is so yummy! Now that I'm avoiding dairy, it's a good substitute for cheese on sandwiches, etc.
DeleteI am definitely already thinking about our 2019 budget and fretting a bit about all our unknowns (job security is a question for both of us at the moment which also calls into question our healthcare etc.)
ReplyDeleteI'm also perusing the electric vehicles (way ahead of need I'm hoping) to see what incentives are available now and what might come available in the future. I'm not eager to part with $30,000 any time soon so it's just research :D
We leased a Chevy Bolt. $5K down, and $120/month. We've never leased before, but just weren't confident enough in the battery to directly buy. We figure there may be strong technical advancements in that space in three years.
DeleteWe also received a $500 Costco rebate (bought through a special Costco promo), earned a utility company rebate of $200 or so (can't remember now), & get to charge for free at work.
So far, the lease $120 is roughly offset by our gas savings/month, which just leaves the upfront costs. We also get to drive in the carpool lane, which is a big time saver.
I love our car & can't imagine going back to a gas car after this.
