Frugal Friday/Saturday

Happy 4th of July, to everyone in the US! Hope you all have a fabulous day. Here are a few frugal wins for the week.

Saving money on things we buy

  • We bought a few items we needed, tax free, and will bring them back when we leave next week.

Earning money

  • Sold three gift cards on Raise, earning just under $130
  • Sold another item on Facebook marketplace, earning $25
  • Finally sold a dresser, two pillows & a chair on Facebook marketplace, earning $80. Glad to have stuff out of the house!
  • Earned $5 on Bing Rewards, and converted to an Amazon gift card

Avoiding spending

  • Our most recent power bill was $9! It's crazy how low it gets in the summer, when we don't need the A/C. It was also helped by not having the kids at our main house (they are with my parents) & not needing to run the dishwasher/laundry/hot showers.
What about you? Any frugal wins to report?

  1. Would love a $9 power bill! I just got ours yesterday and it was $180... due to A/C running overtime as it has been hot and humid here. :( Oh well, it is what it is. We were able to return 2 swimsuits that didn't fit my daughter. Found a bunch of health and beauty stuff that I forgot I had when I cleaned out the closet of doom. Having everything organized helped me see I only needed to buy adult toothpaste to have my stockpile where I wanted it to be if we go on lockdown again.

    1. We have solar, so this is the difference of what we paid (for gas). Sorry, should have made that clear!

  2. $9?! Here in Ontario when we close our cottage down for the winter and shut off the power in the building, our bill is still $35-40/month. That is the fee for "delivering" the electricity through the lines, even though we aren't using any.

  3. That's a nice chunk of cash earned for getting rid of things you do not need! With growing boys, I'm sure they need new clothes regularly.
