Saturday Happenings

I'm up early this morning, as I'm doing an 8 am workout & needed to get a move on a bit earlier. One of my goals in 2025 was to try new things that make me a bit uncomfortable. Let's just say that 2025 has delivered on opportunities for this! Some I've planned on my own, and other things have been dropped in my lap. But, plenty of uncomfortable personal growth has been happening this year.

As part of that goal, I wanted to try some new workouts, so this morning I'm joining a friend for a "dry" triathlon at the workout studio I go to. It's 2000 meters of rowing, 300 body weight exercises (including my ultimate hated burpees) & a 5k. It should be challenging, but doable. Getting it done will be a bit of a mental game with myself, as you finish with the 5k, after you are already tired from the other two. I will report back, once I've recovered.

Edited to add: the class was good! I misread the number of burpees (each body weight exercise had a different amount, and ended up doing 2x as many as I was supposed to.) By the end of the last round, I was sort of crawling. ;-) It was not great form. But, I finished! I burned 750 calories in 50 minutes, which is pretty nuts. It was a very hard workout, but I did it.

Here's what else is on the agenda today:

  • Class prep
  • Work with Nick on some senior trip planning & budgeting. He's paying for his trip, but I want to make sure his budgeting & planning is sound, because...he's 18 & this seems like a good time for some life lessons & help.
  • Start organizing photos for Nick's graduation poster (something his school does).
  • We are ordering delivery, so no need for dinner prep. Woohoo!
  • Clean & organize bathroom drawers & medicine cabinet.
  • Go through & give away some stuff on Buy Nothing
That should get me through the day. What about you? What are you up to today?

  1. Yesterday's care help day withy brother was harder than I was prepared for and I'm the overnight tonight, so need to mentally recoup/ prepare. I'll get some basic housework done, a little outside stuff done and need a grocery top off. I'll fit in a good walk too.

    1. While I'm sure your brother & SIL appreciate the help so much, I'm sure it's such an emotional experience for you. Sending you lots of strength as you prep for another night of support. - HP

  2. Oh wow! Sounds like a great workout! Hope it goes well! I'm having a much-needed slow self-care Saturday. Soaking in the tub, reading, facial mask. Probably little self-indulgent, but I sure need it! Haha!

    1. Oooh, that sounds so good! I miss having a tub SO much. Whenever we travel & there is a tub, I take advantage. - HP

  3. Your agenda for the day sounds productive! I will be at work today - slightly tired from all of the putseying I did around my house yesterday. I never did finish out my to do list, but there's always next week. (:

    1. My to do list always have at least one item that rolls into the next day... and, sometimes even the day after that, and after that. It's more of a guide, unless there's a firm deadline. - HP

    1. It was very fun, but I'm tuckered out. I have computer chores I'll work on today, so I can sit on the sofa more than usual. ;-) - HP

  5. I am doing some chores (laundry, paperwork), went to help son with 2 year old during 8 year old’s swim lesson as DIL is gone all day, and whatever else comes up. So impressed with your workout!

    1. I remember how much help was appreciated during swim lessons! We reached a point where M was traveling so much that I would hire our neighbor to come with us. Attempting to corral up two wiggly little boys & change them in the locker room, and handle swim lessons was too much. I'm sure your son appreciated the help! - HP

  6. Is it nuts that I think your workout sounds FUN! Lol

Hubby and I did a four mile walk in the rain this morning, shortened from our planned six miles after he slipped and fell on the wet sidewalks. Poor guy is going to be sore tomorrow! Later today we're heading to our member winery for BBQ, live music, and free membership wine. A fun, inexpensive night out.

    1. It was actually really fun. My workout friend makes me think of you (even though we've never met, she's how I envision you!). Today was her 59th birthday & she finished at the same time as me, and is absolutely incredible & in the best shape. She's my inspiration!

So sorry about hubby. Hope he feels better. I am also going to be sore tomorrow! Enjoy the rest of your day - sound fabulous. -HP

  7. Now that workout would have probably killed me, or at least put me in bed for a week. You did awesome girl.

    God bless.
