These times

We are all in challenging times right now, and I'm finding it hard not to be overwhelmed. Please don't take the fact that I'm not going to blog about things as me not caring. I'm trying instead to create a spot where some of life can be a bit normal, for myself, and for others. I encourage everyone to practice kindness to themselves & others, today & every day, even when it's difficult.

Today is my 99th day in a row of working out. Tomorrow is the "official" 100 day milestone. Never in my life (as far as I know, I wasn't paying much attention when I was younger), have I worked out for 100 days straight. It's an amazing feeling. My body feels different, my energy level is so much higher, and I feel so much better. Everyone advises taking care of yourself so you can take care of others, and is it ever true. I'm focused on my physical & mental wellbeing right now (like, deeply focused in a way I've spoken about but never truly delivered on), because it's how I'm getting through right now.

The side benefit is how I feel. It's amazing. I wish I could bottle this energy & share it with previous and future me. It's also a good reminder that future me needs to craft a life that better supports consistent physical activity.

In other news, we've been doing all of the normal stuff. . . making meals, eating leftovers, working, prepping for our trip to the coast in a few weeks, donating, volunteering, finishing online learning, gardening, and making progress on our house. Woohoo for progress!

Hoping you are all taking good care of yourselves during these times.

  2. I continue to blog on a regular schedule for the same reason but I know that I won't be able to NOT talk about the things that are happening. I just need time to process some of it privately, and then blogging is how I process as well.

I'm glad that you're able to make the most of this time.

    1. Whatever works, for sure. I find that I just randomly start crying when thinking about things, and I'm not great at sharing when I'm processing. Well, not in my blog at least

  3. Congrats on your workout streak that's great! NO problem if you don't blog about politics and all the other issues now, it makes it nice to read your blog that way. I've had to do one or two day news fasts just to relax since 24/7 news will make anyone crazy these days!

  4. Thats good that you're feeling health improvements with working from home. I know I am sleeping way better than I used to. 100 days! I feel like the time has gone quite fast - these are challenging times indeed.

  5. Congratulations on the workout success. I do not think anyone not blogging about all of the issues doesn't care. We all need to do what we have to do to get through this horrible time, hoping for the better. I keep my blog an issue free zone, but that does not mean times do not make me weep or that I do not care deeply. It just means I would rather take my stand in my 3-D world.

    1. Thanks. I saw a comment elsewhere that people read a lot into the silence or lack of response on topics. That's certainly not my intent.

    1. It's really been such a useful "experiment" for lack of a better term. I'm enjoying all of the energy.

  7. Congratulations on the 100 days of workout! I know how exhilarating it is. I am headed toward my mid 70's and I feel like someone in their early 50's because I try to work out every day. It has made a huge difference in my life.

    1. That is awesome! My dad turns 70 in August, and is in absolutely incredible shape. He regularly mountain bikes 25+ miles a day. My mom is, likewise, in fantastic physical condition, but doesn't bike. ;-) They are a really great positive example for me.
