Sunday happenings

I'm hoping to get some stuff done before it gets too hot (and smoky) today. All three soccer games ended up being cancelled yesterday, so we ran the A/C (a rarity for us, as we can usually keep the house cooled by opening the doors/windows) & hung out at the house.

Here's what's on the list for today:

  • Work out
  • Get my vaccine booster (3rd shot, due to being immunocompromised)
  • Work on the schedule for next week. I was largely done with this, but soccer has changed. AGAIN.
  • Call my parents
  • Make granola bars
  • Prep taco meat
  • Marinate chicken
  • Weed the garden beds
  • List a couple of things on eBay
  • Vacuum
  • Clean the kitchen
That's it on my list. It's going to be a simple dinner of tomato soup & homemade rolls. I'm prepping some meals for the week ahead, which is always useful.

Hope everyone is having a great day, and staying safe.

  1. Glad you are getting your booster. As soon as I can get mine I will be rolling up my sleeve.
Can you share your granola bar recipe?

    1. Yes, we like this granola bar recipe. (We skip the nuts) I find the pretzels can be replaced with almost anything. Today I had some leftover stale granola & stale cereal, and they both went into the recipe. That's why I chose this one. We have others we like as well, but this is a great "use it up" recipe. https://dontwastethecrumbs.com/peanut-butter-chocolate-chip-granola-bars/

    2. Sam, it's really great. I've used vegetable oil before for non-coconut oil fans, but prefer the coconut oil taste. Just a caution, if you're not a coconut person. Switch out the oil!

  2. Getting ready for Ida. Should not be too bad where I live, maybe 4 to 6 inches of rain. Cindy in the South

  3. I called the health department about the 3rd shot/booster this week, but they are not ready to give them yet, unfortunately. I hope you all can get some relief from the smoke soon. We are having baked potatoes today, just something simple. I made a pasta salad to go with them. I hope you have a lovely Sunday.

    1. Fingers crossed you're able to get your booster soon. Your dinner sounds delicious. We are having an easy dinner as well, especially since Nick made the bread. ;-) My role in dinner is very easy!

  4. They're saying 8 month mark and only the over 65 so far Minnesota for boosters. I'll definitely be in line. Another busy Sunday for you. We had a pleasant lake day and are heading home. I'm relaxed from a long swim.

    1. Fingers crossed you get your booster soon. My appointment was quick & easy (local Safeway, & zero people there), so I'm hoping minimal side effects. I haven't heard a lot about how the third shot impacts people, and when you have an immuno disorder, it's always the potential for random impact anyway. So glad you had a chance for a good lake day & a long swim! Sounds so lovely.

  5. We haven't started giving booster shots here yet, I am hoping that it starts very soon. Numbers are creeping up and a booster will be a necessity very soon.

You always have things so well planned.

    God bless.

  6. At least you have ac to protect you from the smoke. Do you have to clean the filter more often?

    1. We do have to clean the AC filter. And, clean our solar panels. The production drops almost in half, as the tiny particles of ash accumulate on the panels.
